Welcome to our Wilson Happy Hikers Fundraising Page!
This year our whole family is joining in the Parkinson's Walk.
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2015. Hard to believe it's been 5 years. Thanks to lots of exercise (shout out to Rock Steady Boxing!), a wonderful movement disorder specialist, and great family and friend support, I'm doing pretty good! Exercise really seems to be the key, for me at this stage, anyway. All these things combined help to deal with the symptoms, but there’s no cure for this progressive neurodegenerative disease. By 2031, the number of people living with Parkinson’s is expected to double.
With your support, together, we can ensure that there is a place for people living with Parkinson’s to turn to – a place like Home. Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario provides much needed programs services, advocacy and research initiatives to build and spread awareness, care and support for Parkinson’s. They are Home for everyone living with Parkinson’s Disease in Southwestern Ontario.
Please support our family as we WALK THE BLOCK (which will really be walking around our farm) for Parkinson’s this September. Your donation will stay local and help make a difference to more than 10,000 people living with Parkinson’s right here at Home.
Thanks for all you do!
Love and virtual hugs, Christine, John, Anna, Maddy, and Derek
